Reading Link Challenge is back for our grade 4 & 5 students! Thanks to the Fraser Valley Regional Library, our grade 4 & 5 students are invited to join this reading club. The six titles are available from our library and students are invited to the library at lunch to read and study with other RLC students now until April, when we will compete against 11 other Langley teams. You can read all about it here.
Thank you for all of the holiday wishes!
Remember the gift of reading over the holidays. Nothing quite like sharing a book together. Tis the season for sure. Some of the books we enjoyed this week included: The Night Before Christmas, A Porcupine in a Pine Tree, The Littlest Christmas Gift. Happy Holidays to you. This week, the students in Mrs. Rolston's, Mrs. Barr's & Mrs. Gard's classes gathered in the Learning Commons to meet Vinnie, the star of a new picture book series by local author, Chantelle Saumier and illustrator, Vanessa Steunenberg. Students really enjoyed the book presentation! They learned the story behind the making of a picture book and how drawings become beautiful illustrations on a page. The finale, Vinnie's guest appearance, left no doubt that Vinnie truly is the star of the show! Thank you Chantelle & Vanessa!!
Jane Watt, author, & Richard Cole, illustrator, of, The Boy Who Paints, generously donated a copy of their book to every elementary school in Langley. Lucky Richard Bulpitt students in Divisions 1, 2 & 3 enjoyed a book presentation and a chance to paint like an artist. Their works of art can be seen on display in the Richard Bulpitt Gallery AKA, the Learning Commons.
Marilyn Richardson, President of the Langley Teacher-Librarian Association, accepted the books on behalf of the district . Students in Divisions 1, 2 & 3 are excited about the special presentation tomorrow from Jane Watt & Richard Cole - The Boy Who Paints.
